Oconto County board grants conditional-use permit for Townsend landscape business

Applicant Dan Shadian, sworn into the record, told the board he plans to use the property for stockpiles of materials for jobs and that the parcel is zoned General Commercial. He stated proposed hours as "24/7, 365 days as needed." William Lester, Assistant Zoning Administrator, read the staff report and noted the Town's recommendation was approved and that the petition had been filed March 23, 2026 with notices mailed May 6 and May 13, 2026.
The board imposed three conditions when granting the permit: hours of operation remain 24/7; the applicant must contact the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for lighting standards if lighting is later proposed; and commercial building plans must be submitted if and when a future building is proposed. The board's written Notice of Decision and Order (Case No. CU-20260005) lists parcel number 042-232312124F and cites Section 14.3100 of the Oconto County Zoning Ordinance and Section 14.803(d) as governing provisions.
The decision was memorialized in Findings of Fact and a Notice of Decision and Order. The order notes appeal rights: a person aggrieved may seek certiorari review in the Oconto County Circuit Court within 30 days of filing. The zoning administrator is directed to issue a permit reflecting the conditions and to obtain the petitioner’s signature acknowledging them.
