The Village of Rosemont Zoning Board of Appeals on July 8 approved a sign variance for the Hyatt Centric hotel at 6350 River Road that will replace and expand two existing monument signs and add restaurant signage on the hotel’s south elevation.
Rob Whitehead of Olympic Sign Company presented the application, describing plans to expand the monument signs to accommodate the Dark Matter Coffee and Molly’s Cupcakes logos and to increase visibility for the Hyatt Centric and CIMA logos. He also described "the addition of a 2-sided blade sign and a canopy sign on the south side of the building," and requested an additional CIMA sign on the west elevation as shown in the submitted sign package. Chairman Ron Holtman confirmed that the monument signs would be relocated inside the property line from their current position in the easement.
Board member Dave Houston moved to approve the variance; Augie Sansone Jr. seconded. The board voted unanimously to carry the motion. The minutes record the decision as "motion carried." No conditions or vote tallies beyond unanimity were specified in the transcript.
The approved changes affect on-site signage and do not, according to the presentation, change building footprint or use. The transcript does not record any public comment or opposition on the item.
