Mayor (speaking at the meeting) said the city is actively recruiting an economic development and human services coordinator to support the work of the commission and staff. "We had over 40 applications for this position, and we're now going through the interview process," the mayor said, noting the council supported creating the position and asked for an early performance‑measurement plan. Commissioners said they want the new hire to quickly gather business and community input to advance downtown activation priorities.
