"I'm Chris Kias," he said, and described a large recycling event scheduled for Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to noon at 520 S. Randall that will accept shredding, electronics, clothing, bicycles, fluorescent bulbs and other materials. Kias asked residents to consult the county recycling page for details on accepted items and costs for items such as monitors.
Kias also told trustees that King County is planning a new licensing program for short-term rentals (Airbnb/Vrbo-style properties) expected to launch in September and advised property owners to monitor that program. He urged residents to upload photos and documents of storm impacts to a county flood and watershed portal to help secure local emergency loan support and to aid future storm preparedness.
These announcements were delivered during the public comment segment and were informational rather than agenda items requiring board action.
