Carpentersville board approves $128,080 moving and storage contract for Village Hall renovation

The Village of Carpentersville board voted to approve a resolution authorizing an agreement with Advantage Moving and Storage Inc. to handle relocation and storage during the upcoming Village Hall and police department renovation.
Assistant Manager Sichuan told trustees that all contents must be removed from the building by Nov. 2, the day demolition and earthwork are scheduled to begin, and that the move is planned in phases to minimize service disruption. “Advantage Moving and Storage provided the lowest cost proposal at a $128,080,” Sichuan said, adding that the bid represents “approximately $73,000 in savings compared to the other proposal.”
Staff described a three-phase plan: Phase 1 (tentatively Sept. 10–11) will relocate police records and some police department items to a leased office/warehouse on Carpenter Boulevard so the public service desk can remain open; Phase 2 will move other village hall departments into the Public Works facility and place remaining items into long-term storage in mid-October; Phase 3, anticipated in January 2028, will return furniture to the renovated building.
The board approved the agreement on a roll-call vote after a motion by Trustee Garcia and a second by Trustee Gupta. President Skillman declared the motion carried. The contract was described during the meeting as being executed “in accordance with the village code section 3-04010.”
The staff presentation said Advantage is a local company based in Algonquin with a nearby storage facility, which staff said will ease retrieval during the 16–18 months of relocation and construction. The agreement will invoice the village as services are performed, with moving costs billed at the completion of each phase and monthly storage charges.
Next steps: staff will finalize the contract documents and coordinate the phased move schedule with departments; demolition is scheduled to begin after the Nov. 2 removal deadline.
