Avon Board appoints Michael Carroll to fill vacant seat; oath administered

The Avon Central School Board of Education on Feb. 13, 2025, appointed Michael Carroll to fill the board seat vacated by Beth Peck and administered his oath of office at a special meeting in the middle school library.
President Rodney George said the board had chosen Carroll at an executive session on Feb. 10. Motion by Steve Comeau, seconded by Karen Vanderbilt, to appoint Michael Carroll as a Board of Education member effective Feb. 13, 2025, through the next regular school district election on May 20, 2025, carried with a recorded vote of 4 Ayes and 0 Nays. District Clerk Jen VanRy administered the Oath of Office to Michael Carroll following the vote.
Carroll’s appointment was a majority action of the board at the special meeting; the minutes note the effective dates and the seat’s origin (vacated by Beth Peck). The record shows staff in attendance, including Superintendent Ryan Pacatte, Ed.D., Business Manager Kristen Murphy and Elementary School Principal Christie DeWald. Carroll will serve on the board until the May 20, 2025 school district election unless a different outcome is recorded in subsequent minutes.
