District outlines Extended School Year and summer reading supports; ESY staff up for approval

Director B. Brown reported the ESY program will run with three classrooms and 13 registered students so far; SUNY Geneseo will return with 22 graduate students for the summer reading program. ESY teachers, aides and nurses were listed for board approval.
Director of Instructional Services B. Brown told the board that Coordinator of Student Services interviews have narrowed 24 applicants to four finalists and that Extended School Year (ESY) staffing (teachers, aides, nurses) was up for approval. The ESY program is planned with three classrooms and 13 students currently registered.
Brown also said SUNY Geneseo will again provide graduate students for the district's summer reading program; 22 graduate students are currently registered to work with Byron-Bergen students. The board approved ESY staffing and related substitute lists as part of the consent agenda.
