The Planning Board approved the continued use of three metal shipping containers used for commercial tire storage at Warren Tire Service, 203 North Comrie Avenue, while limiting approval to the containers presently on site and their current location. Board members noted the containers have been on the property since approximately 2005, 2007, and 2018 and are located behind the building, maintained, painted, secured, and screened from public view.
Members discussed that the City's Zoning Ordinance does not specifically address shipping containers and recommended the Common Council consider amendments to establish standards for containers in commercial and residential districts. The Clerk was asked to forward that recommendation to the Common Council.
