Pedestrian signal activated but pavement markings remain; Sile Road bridge under full closure

Public Works told trustees the pedestrian signal at Flintstone and U.S. 52 is in place; pavement markings must still be completed before the signal is placed into service, pending IDOT approval. Mr. Noriega said crews will schedule pavement markings when weather permits and IDOT authorizes work on Route 52.
Noriega also updated the board that Sile Road bridge reconstruction has begun with a full closure; traffic is re-routing around barricades and the department is handling related resident complaints. Trustees thanked staff and outside agencies for progress on signals and bridge work and acknowledged the multi-step coordination required for these projects.
The reports signaled progress on traffic safety improvements but warned residents that additional work and lane closures will continue while contractors proceed.
