Shorewood awards $1.06 million contract to Austin Tyler for 2026 resurfacing

The Shorewood Village Board voted unanimously Feb. 24 to award a $1,060,965.69 contract to Austin Tyler Construction for the village's 2026 resurfacing project.
Director Noriega, who presented the item, said the project covers "approximately 3 miles of roadways, including the 44 Subdivision" and noted Austin Tyler was the low bidder and "also that completed the 2025 resurfacing contract last year." He told the board staff had included the award recommendation and supporting bid documents in the packet.
Trustees asked whether a low bid should be used to add extra work. Noriega replied that Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) rules generally limit adding to contracts but that the village sometimes mixes MFT with capital funds to extend projects: "MFT does have a strict policy that we just can't add onto the contract itself," he said, adding the village has used capital funds in the past to provide flexibility.
Motion to approve the contract was made and seconded; the roll call vote was recorded as unanimous in favor. The board authorized execution of the contract consistent with the bid documents. Construction is scheduled under the village's 2026 resurfacing program; staff will oversee contract execution and scheduling.
