The Shorewood board approved an addendum to its traffic-signal maintenance agreement with Mead Electric that raises the monthly inspection rate from $210.47 to $217 per intersection, increasing the village’s annual cost to $10,416. Staff said Mead has provided monthly inspections and signal maintenance for the village since before 2000 and is also active in maintaining IDOT signals in the area.
A trustee asked how often inspections find deficiencies; staff said issues are rare but can include bulbs out, crosswalk lights, and detector-loop timing problems. Inspections take about an hour per intersection and any repair work is scheduled separately. The motion to approve the addendum passed on a roll-call vote with all trustees present voting yes.
