Loyalton council appoints J. Markum as mayor; B. Mertton named vice mayor

At the June 17, 2025 meeting the Loyalton City Council unanimously appointed Councilmember J. Markum as mayor effective at the end of the meeting and named outgoing mayor B. Mertton vice mayor.
The Loyalton City Council unanimously appointed Councilmember J. Markum as mayor at its June 17, 2025 regular meeting. Mayor B. Mertton announced she would step down as mayor at the end of the meeting; B. Mertton moved to appoint Markum and J. Dines seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
The council then appointed B. Mertton as vice mayor. The motion to appoint Mertton as vice mayor was moved by J. Markum and seconded by S. Mcllravy; it carried with the same unanimous result. Council members recorded present for the votes were J. Markum, J. Dines, S. Mcllravy, J. Gerow and B. Mertton.
