Loyalton council adopts SB-1 projects list and approves three city resolutions

The Loyalton City Council on May 20 adopted three resolutions affecting local road projects, interfund repayments and tax record examinations.

Councilmember J. Markum moved to adopt Resolution 4-2025, a list of projects for fiscal year 2025–2026 to be funded by the State’s SB-1 Road Repair and Accountability Act; the motion passed with a roll-call vote: Markum, Dines and Gerow voted aye, S. Mcllravy abstained and Mayor Mertton voted aye. Council then approved Resolution 5-2025 directing repayment of borrowed funds from the city’s water and sewer funds to the General Account and Resolution 6-2025 authorizing an examination of sales and use tax records; those two measures passed unanimously.

The SB-1 resolution establishes the list of roads and related repair activities eligible for state funding in 2025–26; the council did not list each project in the minutes. The repayment resolution formalizes moving previously borrowed monies back to the general fund from utility funds; the minutes do not specify a repayment schedule. The minutes similarly record a vote to examine sales and use tax records but do not state the scope, timeframe or which years will be reviewed.
