The commissioners voted 4–1 to declare 55 unissued pagers surplus property and to authorize the sale of 16 of those units to the Toole Volunteer Fire Department at $500 per unit.
Jody from county communications explained that the county originally purchased over 200 pagers and still has 55 new units in storage; departments typically receive up to 10 pagers and the county no longer charges for monthly pager service. Commissioners discussed whether other departments were aware the additional pagers exist and how the county might use the remainder for replacements if needed. Commissioner Tully registered the lone objection before the motion passed.
