Gomez and administrators said Madison's designation is influenced by the K–2 configuration and the fact that younger-grade districts have fewer tested cohorts; Madison's overall score was 51.71 (above the threshold), but the children-with-disabilities cohort produced the Targeted status. Administrators said they will engage in ISBE-required school improvement planning for schools designated Targeted and will participate in ISBE training to understand the process and drivers behind the rating.
Next steps: building administrators will review detailed reports with leadership teams using the district's Continuous Quality Improvement process and report follow-up plans to the board.
