Superintendent Margaret Clauson presented the draft 2025–26 school calendar at the Nov. 12 meeting. The draft provides 180.5 contractual teacher workdays and 174 student attendance days if no emergency closing days are used. The administration proposed the first day for 10‑month staff as Monday, Aug. 18, 2025; teacher start on Aug. 20, 2025; and students beginning on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025 with an early-release day. If no emergency closings occur the last full student day would be Friday, June 5, 2026, and the last half‑day for teachers would be Monday, June 8, 2026.
Planned institute days in the draft are Aug. 20–21, 2025; Nov. 14, 2025; and Jan. 16, 2026. Tentative early-release student days include Sept. 17, Oct. 22, Feb. 11, Mar. 11, May 13 and May 20. The draft calendar resulted from prior staff and parent surveys about start-day preferences and conference scheduling; the SEA requested consideration of a full week off at Thanksgiving, which the board said it would consider provided the final student-calendar alignment remains compatible with Skokie Park District camp schedules. The final calendar will return for approval at the December board meeting after review by employee groups.
