At the Jan. 9 Insurance Subcommittee meeting, Nancy Bellosa of EBC said the consultant had been notified that BCBS and Advocate had not reached agreement and that Advocate would be removed from the HMO IL network. Bellosa told the committee this development "would impact just under 50 members." The subcommittee discussed consequences for those employees, including the need to change providers or enroll in the PPO.
The committee noted Advocate is included in the Blue Advantage network, so leaving HMO IL in favor of Blue Advantage would avoid forcing those members to change providers. The subcommittee asked staff to present the network-disruption analysis and recommendation to the full Board on Jan. 14 so impacted employees can be counseled before any change takes effect July 1, 2025.
