State Fire Marshall limits gatherings at Daly Gym to small pickup games after structural concerns

Anaconda‑Deer Lodge County’s fire chief told commissioners on Aug. 4 that the State Fire Marshall has limited activities at Daly Gym to pickup games with 10–20 people, after earlier structural concerns reported to county staff.
"He did approve pickup games there, between ten to twenty people in there and that's it," Chief Cody Tocher said, adding that the State Fire Marshall told him he would shut the gym down immediately if he learned events exceeded that limit. Tocher and the State Fire Marshall told commissioners they had not received the structural engineer report the owner had said existed.
CEO Bill Everett asked whether a new structural report had been submitted; Tocher said the owner reported commissioning a second engineer but had not delivered that report to county staff or the State Fire Marshall. Commissioners did not change the Marshall’s directive and said enforcement would be handled by the Marshall’s office if crowds exceeded the limit.
