Council advances several bond and capital ordinances on first reading

The Park Ridge Borough Council introduced and passed on first reading a package of capital and bond ordinances during its July 8 meeting.
Ordinance 2026-027 supplements prior capital authorization with an additional $27,000 to acquire a self-contained breathing-apparatus washer for the fire department. Council also introduced Ordinance 2026-023, a $1,120,000 bond for various public improvements and equipment (including communications and vehicles), and Ordinance 2026-024, a $965,000 bond for electric-utility improvements and vehicle acquisition. Finally, the council introduced Ordinance 2026-025, a $425,000 bond for water-utility capital improvements. All passed first reading by roll-call vote; each ordinance was scheduled for a public hearing on Aug. 11, 2026.
Councilors and staff described the items as standard capital maintenance and upgrade measures. A council member highlighted that the apparatus washer helps clean breathing gear after fires to prevent contamination of vehicles. Staff said ordinances would be published on the borough website and in the Bergen Record ahead of the Aug. 11 hearings.
What happens next: Each ordinance will be the subject of a public hearing on Aug. 11, 2026; the council can vote on final passage after the hearings and proceed with procurement and financing steps.
