Prairie Flower reports asset-funded sliding-fee service served 103 children last year

Monica Markham presented the Prairie Flower annual report Aug. 4, describing the program as a nature- and play-based childhood center that focuses on outdoor learning and individualized interests.
Markham said the Story County Asset Board awarded $7,790 in fiscal year 25–26 specifically to fund a sliding fee scale that enabled lower-priced services for lower-income families. She reported Prairie Flower served 103 individual children from 94 families (9 toddlers, 41 preschoolers, 53 school-age children) and noted that 41 individuals were served using asset funding. Markham said the total number served was lower than it might have been because the sliding fee scale was not active at the start of the previous fiscal year. "We're a pretty new, asset agency," Markham said, and invited questions from supervisors; none were raised at the meeting.
Board members thanked Markham for the report and praised the program's focus on outdoor learning.
