Long‑running Fernandina property ordered into compliance; $100/day fine if not corrected

Crystal Rimes, Fernandina Beach’s code enforcement officer, told the magistrate that a property at 319 South 6th Street (DGS Living Trust, trustee David J. Scandaliato) has been a legacy case since 2022 with more than 16 inspections and multiple extensions, often for health reasons. Rimes said four violations remained — deteriorated exterior structure, overgrown vegetation, outside storage and accumulation of rubbish — and that the city had lined up community resources to help the owner remedy conditions.
Magistrate Harrison Poole said the record supported a violation finding and ordered the property brought into compliance by Oct. 5, 2026; if corrections are not completed, the magistrate said a $100 daily fine will begin Oct. 6. The magistrate also awarded the city administrative costs of $469.07 and said a written order will follow. As Rimes told the court, "we've done over 16 plus inspections. It's been in violation over 1600 days."
