Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the Council the Town’s procurement code has not been updated in years and that the current RFP requirement for projects over $10,000 is no longer practical. She suggested requiring three competitive quotes for smaller projects and giving the Town Manager authority to approve emergency expenditures up to $35,000.
Town Attorney Thomas Benavidez agreed with the proposed direction. Mayor Johann Wallace directed staff to bring the suggested changes back to a future meeting as an ordinance for formal consideration; no ordinance was adopted at the March 26 meeting.
