The Nobles County Board of Commissioners voted to table consideration of a feasibility study for Judicial Ditch 11B Branch A to the next board meeting for more information. The motion to table was moved by Commissioner Justin Ahlers and seconded by Commissioner Bob Paplow; the minutes state the motion "was duly passed."
County drainage staff told the board the branch line serves the City of Wilmont by carrying agricultural stormwater through town and then roughly 3.2 miles south to the system’s open ditch. Staff said the branch is difficult to repair and maintain because tile runs under houses, buildings, tree lines and streets and that recent major repairs included work on a 20-inch tile in residential backyards. Staff reported that they solicited feasibility-study proposals from ISG and Houston Engineering to evaluate repair, storage and improvement options, provide cost estimates and host a landowner informational meeting once the study is complete. The board did not approve the study at this meeting and deferred the decision pending additional information.
