Selectboard discusses road repairs, equipment rotation, gravel, sand and fuel procurement
Summary
Town roads staff reported an International truck is in for repairs, crews began mowing and ditch work, chloride supply is limited, and the Selectboard directed staff to seek bids for winter sand, stockpile gravel, bid fuel contracts, and obtain a quote for generator radiator replacement.
Maurice Jettie reported that the International truck is still at Allegiance for repairs; the road crew has started roadside mowing and worked on a Metcalf Pond Road ditch. He said crews are spreading chloride but that chloride has been difficult to obtain this year. Selectboard member David Persons asked the road crew to stock up on gravel and requested Maurice get bids for the winter sand stockpile.
The board also directed Town Administrator Cathy Ainsworth to bid out fuel (including expected annual use of DEF and heating fuel at the current locations served by Blouin) and to get a quote from Milton Cat to replace the leaking radiator on the Town Office generator so the board can weigh repair versus full replacement. A non-mandatory roads training in Sheldon was also mentioned as an optional opportunity for Maurice and crew.
