The Deming Public Schools Board accepted a vendor quote of $428,557.95 (recorded in the packet) to demolish the district's Central Kitchen, approving the contract by roll-call vote.
Miss Stauffer, who answered board questions about the demolition timeline and abatement, said past projects from state approval to demolition have taken about seven months but that staff expect a faster administrative turnaround for this project: "Last time I did a demolition project with, the state From approval to bulldozer took about 7 months. Just getting the paperwork together, but I think we've got a better handle on it this time." She also cautioned there is a notable asbestos load at Central Kitchen and that abatement will take additional time.
The board voted to accept the GrainCorp quote and directed staff to proceed with paperwork and PSFA coordination for POs and abatement oversight.
