The Historic Preservation Advisory Board approved a Level 1 LEHI tax exemption for the Sims Cameron House at 620 West Virginia and also approved the property's historic marker during the Aug. 6 meeting.
Reina presented the application for the property, noting construction between 1892 and 1897 and an unusual history of the house having been moved from its original lot in 1914. For the Level 1 incentive, staff reported documented improvements — a new roof and foundation reinforcement — totaling $31,552. "The staff report and application show detailed invoices of the work, which totaled, dollars 31,552," Reina said during her summary.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up; one member noted familiarity with the house from a walking route. A motion to approve the LEHI Level 1 exemption and the marker was made and the board recorded unanimous approvals where noted. Staff will retain the invoices and application package as documentation of eligibility for the incentive.
The approvals recognize the property's historical associations and qualifying rehabilitation expenditures under the city's Level 1 incentive criteria.
