The Historic Preservation Advisory Board approved a historic marker for the Wilson Haines Brown House at 417 North Wattle during its Aug. 6 meeting.
Reina described the property as constructed in 1916 with stucco-plaster exterior over brick, a low-slope mansard roof and original features including wood corbels and fluted porch columns. She noted the house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with its registration occurring in 1987. "It is a high priority house, which means it contributes significantly to local history or broader historical patterns and is an outstanding or unique example of architecture," Reina said in the presentation.
Board members complimented the owner's renovation work and voted to approve the marker; James recused himself from votes relating to some items and the Chair noted the approvals carried unanimously otherwise. The designation reinforces the property's recognized historic status and the board's role in documenting and marking notable local buildings.
