Britney delivered the director's report and summarized recent recruitment and outreach activity: staff reported 25 active projects and described a large pipeline of potential capital investment from RFIs the team worked on.
In the RFI data staff presented, they said the team submitted 64 RFIs for FY 2025 and, in one presented pipeline figure, described potential capital investment of about $1,100,000,000 and 9,600 potential jobs tied to submitted opportunities. Staff described outreach that included 281 recruitment outreach attempts and multiple business retention and expansion visits.
Matilda Wheaton reported on film permitting and downtown promotions. She said the department issued a small number of commercial and student film permits in late 2024 and highlighted the 31 Days of Halloween campaign: 54 downtown businesses completed the department's impact survey, 56% of respondents reported increased business, and staff recorded more than 300 related events tied to the promotion.
Board members praised the work and suggested a board retreat session to focus on incentive policies and recruitment priorities.
