The MEDC presentation on July 28 included a preview of a District 121 Corridor rendering and a description of a marketing approach that will allow developers to select parcels via a standalone corridor website. Mike Kalski said the MEDC purchased about eight acres next to its offices and described a concept that could support "400,000 plus square feet of class office," with parking and retail components. The corridor will be marketed to help prospective employers and developers visualize potential development outcomes.
Kalski said the website will funnel interested users to MEDC staff or to partner jurisdictions, and that the corridor concept is part of a broader attraction pillar the MEDC is promoting. He also said a regional award for collaboration is expected to be announced soon; the presentation noted ongoing work with master planners and developers on updated concept plans.
