The Planning Board approved Aug. 6 a revised sign-waiver request for Padilla's Mexican Restaurant (permit 51265) after the applicant reduced the proposed sign area from 108.49 to 71 square feet. The applicant's representative, Danny Stronsky of Signs Plus, said the reduced LED sign would improve business identification without creating traffic hazards.
Staff explained the Highway 90 Corridor Overlay Zone limits attached signs based on linear building frontage and setback allowances; the revised plan accounted for setbacks and additional area allowed at greater distance from the roadway, reducing the requested sign area. "Approval of the waiver would provide reasonable business identification for Padillas," Danny Stronsky told the commission. The board approved the permit; Commissioner Steven Duran abstained due to a conflict of interest.
