Staff said the Discover Denton advisory board approved draft bylaws and an executive transition committee had been selected; the timeline presented showed a target for independence in April 2026, delayed from an earlier June 2025 target by staffing timelines.
Council members asked about board composition, audit and records access, and whether a council representative should sit on both the DMMO board and the community partnerships committee for continuity; staff said those operational details could be covered in subsequent funding, asset‑transfer, and hot‑fund agreements. Council provided feedback on a few technical tweaks and indicated consensus to move forward with staff preparing articles of formation and associated transition agreements.
