South Chicago Heights defers Rambo alley-cleaning proposal after homeowner agrees to clear alley

Village President Terry Matthews convened the Committee of the Whole for the Village of South Chicago Heights on April 20, 2026, and said a Rambo proposal for alley cleaning and weed spraying needed further clarification and would be returned to the next Committee meeting. Building Director Nick Goncher reported he spoke with a homeowner who had contributed to debris in the alley behind Bria and that the homeowner agreed to clean the alley; the owner’s address was removed from the Rambo proposal.
Administrator Nora Gomez asked for an initial alley clean-up to establish a clean start for Department of Public Works maintenance, and trustees discussed the cost of that initial work without recording any dollar figures. No public commenters spoke during the meeting’s public-comment period. The Committee adjourned at 7:46 p.m. after Trustee Eric Stanton moved to adjourn and Trustee Rose Ann Diederich seconded; the clerk recorded a voice vote with all ayes and no nays. The Rambo proposal and related alley-cleaning plans will return to the next Committee of the Whole meeting for further consideration.
