Owner Tyceria Griffin said she primarily sought permission to provide hookah and to have the DJ/PEP options on file for occasional events; Alderman Alex Brower and staff urged using the administrative special-event process for isolated DJ or event requests. The applicant agreed to amend the application to remove DJs, karaoke and dancing and retain hookah in the PEP. The committee ordered the amendment and approved the application as amended, while noting concerns about smoking in a restaurant setting.
The licensing division explained the special-event permit process and staff said such event requests can be approved administratively if submitted with adequate notice. The committee had no objections to the amendment and ordered approval.
