The mover said, "After examination of my many footnotes in preparation for this year's budget deliberations, I just wanted to make sure that all resolutions had already been passed because as we know, footnotes are not effectuated, until the resolution is passed." The council moved to take File No. 241272 from the Steering and Rules Committee and ordered adoption after no objections were voiced.
Council members then took up File No. 241271. During discussion members raised whether language could be added to direct city departments to ensure materials and reports were available through the city's MKE mobile action app and whether those materials should be offered in Spanish and other languages. The clerk said any amendment must be filed in writing or the council could suspend the rules with a two-thirds vote. One alderman said they would pursue a separate resolution to address broader bilingual access and the motion to adopt proceeded as presented.
