Students from Ms. Burbank's 3rd grade class at Mark West Elementary presented their work from the district's recently adopted Discovery Science curriculum on life cycles, integrating writing and scientific thinking. In addition to written work, the students performed a holiday song that illustrated life-cycle concepts.
Trustees attending the Mark West Area Chamber of Commerce Holiday Tree Lighting praised the district's choral and music students and specifically commended the work of music teacher Kara Kaufman. Trustee Tracy Lavin‑Kendall, after a site visit with Superintendent Valenzuela, said it was "wonderful to see the students so engaged." The Board received updates from principals across the district on assessments, coops, and upcoming events such as Mark West Elementary's Heritage Feed on Dec. 18.
