The Bossier Parish Police Jury took multiple actions July 1 on property-standards cases across Haughton and Benton.
Property Standards Officer David Ghormley reported 1154 Adner Lane had been cleaned and recommended dismissal of condemnation proceedings; the jury dismissed the case unanimously after testimony that a neighboring church maintains the site. Ghormley also recommended condemnation of 209 Sweetgum Drive and 272/278 Pease Drive; jurors voted unanimously to condemn both properties after staff presentations.
At 2125 Twin Lake Drive, owner Kimberly Cotton explained family hardship, including financial struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic and caregiving responsibilities, and said she is working to clean the property and arrange removal of scrap metal. Juror Philip Rodgers moved and jurors approved a two-week extension, with staff to review progress and the Highway Department to schedule clean-up as workload permits.
