Berrien County commissioners approve 14-item consent calendar in 12-0 vote

On June 18, 2026, the Berrien County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a 14-item Consent Calendar that bundled routine payments, contract amendments and grant applications.
Commissioner David Vollrath moved "to approve today’s Consent Calendar," and Commissioner Chokwe Pitchford supported the motion. County Clerk Stacy Loar-Porter recorded a roll-call vote of 12 yeas (Bell, Curran, Freehling, Harrison, Hinkelman, Ott, Pitchford, Tyler, Vollrath, Wuerfel, Yarbrough and Elliott); the motion carried with no nays. The Consent Calendar included items such as P2606006 (monthly per diem), F2606034 (weekly bill pay and road payables), B2606082 (weekly requisitions and purchase order change orders), amendments to timekeeping and comprehensive agreements, several grant applications (including a maternal warning sign training grant and an Indiana–Michigan remonumentation grant), a memo of understanding for opioid settlement funds, acceptance of donated child car seats from the Michigan State Police, establishment of a special projects fund, beach water monitoring grant funds, and agreements related to juvenile services and court-ordered childcare placements.
The board also approved minutes from a June 11, 2026 special meeting earlier in the session; that motion was made by Commissioner Teri Sue Freehling and seconded by Commissioner Sharon Tyler and was recorded as carried with no nays. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson R. McKinley Elliott at 9:45 A.M.
