Superintendent Jon Fulton to Leave at End of 2025–26 School Year; Board Accepts Resignation

Superintendent Jon Fulton presented a letter to the ISD 0640 School Board saying he will not be renewing his contract at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. The board voted unanimously to accept Fulton’s resignation effective June 30, 2026 and set a board work session for Oct. 14, 2025 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. in the Activity Center Classroom to begin planning a superintendent search.
Board members noted facilities concerns while discussing the transition, including the need for rooftop unit repairs that the superintendent flagged during the conversation. The acceptance of the resignation and the scheduling of the work session were recorded as unanimous motions; no interim superintendent appointment was made during the Sept. 22 meeting.
