HRB votes to hold Smeltermen’s Day photo display on Aug. 8; setup planned Aug. 7

The Historic Resources Board debated whether to pause its Smeltermen’s Day photo display this summer but ultimately voted on June 4 to hold the display on Saturday, Aug. 8. Tammy Mattson moved to hold the photo display; Lynette Foulger seconded. The motion passed with three votes in favor, Rose Nyman voting against, and Bob Wren abstaining.
Board members discussed the workload and whether skipping July and August would risk losing the event in future years. Tammy said she "was willing to pick up slack" and noted mixed emotions about the extra work. Lynette moved to reuse last year’s ad with updated information; Terry LaValley seconded and that motion passed 5-0. Rose will coordinate the ad with the Leader, and the board arranged to set up on Friday, Aug. 7 with volunteer shifts for the event day.
Board minutes record volunteers and specific items to bring for the display; members did not identify additional outside funding for the photo exhibit during the meeting.
