Property owners propose new road to replace failing Pintlar Peaks Drive; commissioners to review subdivision and road standards
Summary
Property owners and their surveyor described a plan to relocate boundaries and realign Pintlar Peaks Drive after sluffing and spring issues destabilized the existing road; surveyor Matt Moore said the new cut avoids the failing slope but a full geotechnical study has not been commissioned and the existing road remains the primary entrance.

Residents and project representatives described a multi-year effort to realign Pintlar Peaks Drive and amend the Pintlar Peaks subdivision to address a failing ridge and make the road safer for residents and emergency vehicles.
Ken Connors, representing landowner Shane Willems, said property owners agreed to boundary relocations that would allow the road to be moved onto a single parcel and the existing road to be abandoned once the new alignment is complete. "Everybody that has an interest involved in this has seemed to reach an agreement," Ken Connors said.
Surveyor Matt Moore told commissioners the geology at the collapsing section differs from the area they plan to cut into and that they are keeping slopes lower than previously proposed. "A whole geotechnical analysis has not been commissioned," Moore said, and acknowledged some risk: "I suppose yes" to the question of whether there is a chance of recurrence.
Resident Bill Finnegan, who said he signed the agreement and will contribute financially, described the road as currently passable but potentially impassable for emergency vehicles in winter. Commissioners and the County Attorney agreed Carl Hamming should attend the next meeting to explain how subdivision and road ordinances intersect before the Commission considers Resolution 26-16 recognizing changed access.
The Commission did not vote at the work session; staff and the applicant were instructed to return with the recorded boundary adjustments, plat amendment documents, and clarification from the planning director about road-standard approvals.
