Sheriff Brian Gutowski told the committee the Manistee County Jail is gearing up for a forthcoming audit and that the facility will have a mental‑health worker coming into the jail two days per week to support inmates.
Appendix materials presented with the report list jail statistics for January–April 2026 and say the jail lodged 509 individuals during 2025 with an average daily population around 32.
