Manistee County adopts 2026 summer property tax levy at 5.4052 mills

The Manistee County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 2026-5 at its May 19, 2026 meeting, setting the county allocated summer property tax levy to be collected on July 1, 2026. The resolution sets the levy at "5.4052 mills" after applying the Headlee millage reduction fraction.
Commissioner Eric Gustad offered the resolution and Commissioner Richard Schmidt seconded it. The clerk’s written record lists the vote as YEAS: Dontz, Goodman, Gustad, Koons, McCraner and Schmidt; ABSENT: Machen. The resolution cites Public Act 357 of 2004 and references relevant sections of the General Property Tax Act and related Michigan Compiled Laws governing budget hearings and truth-in-taxation notices.
