Parks committee proposes 'Meet Me at the Park' summer play-date series

Chairperson Ashley Britt presented a new Parks and Recreation concept called "Meet Me at the Park," proposing three to four organized play-date events per year aimed at encouraging families to use village parks. "Meet me at the park" would run about 90 minutes per session, rotate to different parks with a different activity provided, and offer popcorn and lemonade to attendees, Britt said.
The proposal calls for the first event to take place at Hatchery Park on Father’s Day and to coincide with a free fishing day; future dates and activities have not been finalized. Committee members were asked to provide feedback and suggestions as staff and the Parks department refine logistics, safety measures, and staffing needs.
The series is intended as a low-cost engagement program to boost park use and community connection. No formal vote or budget commitment was taken; the committee directed staff to continue planning and return with proposed dates and operational details for future consideration.
