Trial Court asks to re-fund law clerk position; committee reviews per-diem clarity for juvenile placements

Chairman Jim Curran said he appreciated the memo, and the Committee concurred to re-fund the Law Clerk position. Smietanka-Haney framed the per-diem clarification (A2606235) as intended to ensure timely access to necessary authorizations, although Curran observed that, in practice, authorizations should already be receivable in a timely manner without the resolution.
Hon. Judge Mayfield updated the committee on recent and upcoming court events, including a Juneteenth observation on June 22 and a Family Reunification Day on June 25. Mayfield also noted a July 11 ten-year remembrance for two staff members (Ron and Joe) that will be limited to county employees. Curran raised whether the courts had been involved in county strategic planning; Mayfield replied the courts are a separate entity with state requirements and that alignment for information-sharing is appropriate but full immersion in planning is not required.
