White Plains schools reiterate visitor ID and reporting procedures amid safety concerns

In the wake of "devastating" violence elsewhere, Superintendent Joe Ricca reiterated that safety and security remain a top priority for the White Plains City School District. He said the district has continued to build safety infrastructure and that "one of the most important components of that infrastructure is every single member of this community"—asking families to report concerning behavior or social-media posts.

Ricca also explained access rules for school buildings: only district employees or designated guardians can have routine access to students during the day, visitors must show ID and check in, and appointments are recommended to manage comings and goings. He directed families to contact the main office, nurse or the White Plains Police Department if they need after-hours support.
