Board hears progress on middle-school planning, interviews for construction manager

BEXLEY CITY — The Bexley Board of Education received an update on facilities planning during its Aug. 5 meeting as the facility advisory council advances interviews for architecture and construction-manager services.
Miss Powers, reporting in another member's absence, said the council reviewed proposals and interviewed several firms to serve as construction manager and owner's representative for a proposed new middle school and upgrades to other buildings and grounds. "We reviewed proposals from firms to serve as construction manager and owner's rep, and interviewed a number of architectural firms for the proposed work on a new middle school and updates to our other buildings and grounds," she said, adding that additional interviews will take place later in the month.
Miss Powers praised administrative staff — specifically Michael Ahren and John Eikenberry — and said presentations from potential partners were strong. The board did not take votes on the selection at the meeting; the item remains in the interview and selection phase.
