Cromwell-Wright delays math curriculum purchase, celebrates summer reading grants

Principal Amy Bergman-Valla reported a strong turnout at the Scholastic Book Fair and said teachers and families enjoyed the event. Bergman-Valla told the board that the district is continuing to explore a new math curriculum but will delay purchases because state standard updates remain unsettled and teachers are managing the recent rollout of a new reading curriculum under the READ Act.
Bergman-Valla also said that Mrs. Lea Tiili-Anderson applied for and received two grants to support a summer reading program for primary-grade students. The program will allow students to pick books appropriate for their level with help from student council volunteers; all books and parent materials will be mailed to homes to provide continuity of reading over the summer.
