Travis Mayfield frames director priorities around preparedness, communication and sustaining momentum

Travis Mayfield, the deputy director candidate, opened his interview by calling Wilson County Schools "in a really, really good place" academically and said his first-year priorities would be to be visible in schools, gather input from staff and community groups, and address pressing operational issues.

Mayfield identified the district's employee health-insurance situation as a material fiscal problem that "has to be fixed" and described a methodical process to develop options and gather employee preferences.
