The superintendent outlined a two-proposition capital project vote scheduled for Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the middle-high school auditorium foyer. Proposition 1 was described as a no-tax-impact maintenance and modernization package (roof replacements, parking and sidewalk work and preschool classroom renovations). Proposition 2 was presented as a $10,700,000 project with an estimated 1.96% tax impact, which the superintendent equated to roughly $55 per $100,000 of assessed value for a seven-year period.
Proposition 2 includes additional classroom and office renovations, selected A/C upgrades, improvements to auditorium and athletic facilities, and other modernization work. The superintendent said faculty presentations and public outreach are planned in early December and a community meeting will be held Dec. 12 in the middle-high school library.
Board members noted that electric-bus infrastructure needs may interact with capital project planning and said a capital-project finalization meeting is scheduled to double-check details prior to the vote.
