Superintendent highlights teacher training, comptroller audit and regionalization work

The superintendent also said the board received a draft of the comptroller's capital-project audit and that the district is required to prepare a corrective action plan to respond to the audit; the board must approve the plan before the district can implement the financial plan. "Audits are very often an opportunity to learn and improve," the superintendent said. The meeting record notes a 90-day timeline for preparing the corrective-action plan.
Finally, the superintendent previewed a new State Education Department initiative on "regionalization," describing it as a multistep data-driven exercise to report strengths and needs to SED by Nov. 1. The district will discuss the initiative with administrators and a shared decision-making team and may explore opportunities for shared programming or services where appropriate.
